Gila National Forest… New Mexico.

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

A day ride… a long one…  Getting to Gila from Portal was the fun of it! Many empty spaces to cross, unmarked trails, a GPS to rely on, with gas stations in between the trails, sand, lots of sand. Sand was my handicap for a long time… well, still not my favorite… Florida where at the time I spend my six months a year had a lot of sand to offer, but when one does not have to ride in it… I stayed away from it! In Arizona and New Mexico, Gila is in New Mexico by the way, the choice quite often is not there… Gilla_038 I remember in my humble beginnings a knot tightening up in my chest as I could see it coming… no guts… no glory. Who needs glory I use to tell myself, I just want to get from point A to point B. I would stop often… look… analyze… no guts… and remembering what I was told, gradually I learned the glory of it!

The rest of the story and many more pictures are on SmuMug… set the upper right hand "style" setting to "JOURNAL"… and enjoy.

Be well…. Ara and Spirit
