“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” ~ Khalil Gibran ~

Moonrise over Hwy 77-3

We left Tucson at an unusual time to avoid the heat of the day. Late afternoon. Sometimes, often, I still think about a present time which wrongly takes place far back in my youth when I could ride into the night and put on some distance or elevation avoiding a predicted unkind weather. This did not happen today as only 100 miles later I threw in the towel and took a room for the night. Globe, Arizona. The upside of it has been discovering Tonto National Forest and the from a distance inviting dirt roads spread out as far as my eyes could see while the day went away and the full moon rose. Mental note to come back.

As the miles passed on away from the City, as the traffic disappeared and the wind blew it’s welcoming message in my face, I could not help remembering words of my last entry. I know too well of my harshness into those written words. I want to so much and so often apologize for them, and yet, I am who I am and never derive from my true feelings regardless of how they take shape.

I can only stay true to myself as I write for myself toward an inner core which cannot deviate from a reality felt. It is not all that bad as maybe one living within the busy blocks lined with their multitude of multicolor traffic lights might feel targeted. There is pleasure from the various food stores, the shops and all. It is a what I would call a "nice neighborhood". Can it be so wrong if it is not my cup of tea? It is a taste, a fashion, a need I understand for most, and so, yes, I am sorry if my words bring on the upper eyebrow a bit even higher. There is no ill intent, my path is just a bit different as it plunges daily in those vast untouched oceans left behind by builders and City planners and man made rules which only make me loose my breath not of wander but wonder.

Northbound, the road is here, only a few feet away awaiting the morning shine of a new sun. We are headed toward Boulder and Escalante, Utah. The weather forecast is calling for snow in a few days and we will make a detour awaiting better weather. For years now we have tried to plan a visit at my Friends House, Dean and Pam. Plans never work. Wandering does work as we will stop by tomorrow.

We made it to Show Low while discovering a new road, Highway 60. What a beauty and what a marvel of engineering. The skies have been menacing and yet finding rays of sunshine within Dean’s and Pam’s hospitality is brightening the moments spend here. I am immersed in a new beginning, this path northbound for the summer and maybe fall duration always is. This humble compound built by their own hands started in 2006 is an amazing “off the grid” living space, the main house, the barn which can accommodate ten riders and their bikes, a little “casita” for one or two in construction, a work out quaint cabin, the “grand tour” has left me speechless. What an incredible “Oasis” they have put together one plank at the time.

More later! We have been busy cooking and this morning the snow has blanketed the luscious trees as far as I can see. Snow in May? Happy and lucky for us not to be in our tent last night!

Ah…. you’ve been driving some of my favorite roads and old haunts. 60 is indeed beautiful, and the Boulder Highway (12) is breathtaking. Enjoy it for me – I won’t be back for a while. West Texas just continues to burn, and the state is drying up. So sad, while so much of the country washes away. You and Spirit continue your wondrous wanderings with best wishes from those of us not quite on the road.

Dog (Spirit) is there to help you fullfill your divine purpose in life, when there is no one around to prod you on… God can use animals when people are not available- some kind of Angel-dog he is! Godbless and keep you safe and healthy as you”go forth and come in”!
