Sometimes the pictures do not match what I am writing! It happens… the pictures are from a few days ago… the words are from today, so are the snow pictures The photos are the continuation of our visit to George Ranch, the 1860 house and the 1895 house. Both stunning, but I did prefer the 1930 cabin… any day! Colette had also asked me to take some nice shots of Mickey… these are the best ones. Mickey was a show dog till they discovered that he was missing a molar! I am personally so glad that he was… he has the best home now any dog could have! I almost kidnapped him when I left… maybe if I had the room I would have… yes, that sweet of a dog.

Somehow, as I like "somehow’s", we pulled in on the outskirts of Atlanta a day early. Not wanting to disturb Mark who is allowing us to camp on his construction site in Powder Springs, we pulled in again at another Truck Stop! A nice spot by the entrance where no one can park next to us, with again some nice littered grass behind the rig for Spirit… the little Honda is already whispering and spitting out some power… I want to buy a big truck when I grow up. A Peterbilt… They are all around us here, some nice ones. We are almost back to mile marker 0. Strange feeling, many thoughts, has 15 months gone by so fast?… and what have I accomplished?

Stay with us. We are now IN Atlanta… Powder Springs to be exact and surrounded by one inch of snow! What happened? Will next week warm up? We are camping in the fenced "yard" of Mark’s construction company. We could not ask for more being in a big City… there are even some trees around us… hoping to go out and explore tomorrow with milder weather throughout the day. In the meantime, I have been looking forward to being locked in and catching up with e mail and the other good stuff that always seems to be piling up when in transit.

This above is the 1860 house, with Nick the Chef in charge of the food department. His job is to offer dinners duplicating, after much research, the meals served in that era! I have never seen any Chef so enthusiastic about their position, even having to use the wood stove designed for cooking… He was getting prepared for a dinner for 16 a few days away.

So… many thoughts I wrote. Mile marker 0. Would anything keep us from going on while in these familiar surroundings? Would going back to work give us a better sense of security? Security might not be the proper wording as I do feel secure anywhere we are. I think the expression would be "better financially stable" as being on the road has brought up a strain on the budget. Not this outing here… this 1500 miles one way and 1700 miles the other way to Moab… this one month coming up in Savannah… this is all courtesy of my dear mother who wants to spend one month being a tourist and enjoy her only son… of course I will hear much about what she calls this "craziness of mine", but, as nothing is free, that will be the price to pay for her invitation! Being 80 I will take her any way she is…

Above, 1895 House. With ghost and all… nicer wood cooking stove and quite a bit larger home, as also shown in the pictures below.

Far from being a businessman… a marketer… or on any path of such similar profession, I do have some hopes that you readers will with the interest and liking of this Blog keep us going as we are trying to offer some worthwhile products made by us! I am hoping to remove the "contribution" button some day, giving back something worthy of your support. I think everyone will like the T-shirts bearing Spirit’s picture when they are ready, (I am waiting for a sunny day to take more pictures). "The Spirited Doggie Treats" have had great feedback but… and so have the Art Cards, a but there too… who knows… maybe I am going about it the wrong way. Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have even advertised my services as a Chef while in your area… and that also has not been rewarding as the donations have not even covered the cost of the food! That part I know… bad handling on my part.

I always thought anything done honestly would be well received. This Blog is the reflection of our Life, our travels, the known and unknown part of this beautiful Country we live in, and you have probably noticed that this is the second time this week I write about our financial stage… It will be the last time, it is a subject that I do not enjoy writing about. I have because it worries me a bit. Of course shutting down the web site will allow us to live with less… but I would so much dislike coming to that step. I worked 3 nights a week while in Big Bend for a few weeks and will be doing the same in Moab if necessary… however, moving on, writing and the sights of pictures, through the sale of our products would definitely be a better consideration! Life goes on… I will not dwell on it again…

We had a minor electrical problem this morning, seems that the snow when melting penetrated the outside outlet and kept tripping the GFI. The guys here, as business is a bit slow, fixed me up right away, even took a couple trips to Home Depot. Talking about being at the right place at the right time!

We are going to saddle up in a bit and go riding, need to clear up my mind a bit from all this moving, being here, mother coming in a few days and this incredible change of pace. I leave you with another sunset from Booth… and wishing you all well… these are the words of an open book!

"Spirited Doggie Treats" and "Art Cards"…. Dogs cannot live of Love and food alone… they need treats, they like treats… we know! Put Spirit to work!

We are always under deep appreciation toward the readers that have send in a contribution helping this website’s expenditures. For those who have not, continue enjoying the site, pictures, recipes, and if you feel it’s worth $1 a month, the contribution button is above, snail mail is below…

  1. Hans Lerdo (GatorTiger) Says:

    Hi Ara,

It’s been a while since we met at the Vortex in Atlanta… Just before you ‘moved’ west. Now I’m on the move myself… I got a new job in Germany and will be taking down the tents in Atlanta over the next few months. Sure would have like to have a chance to see you again when you’re in Atlanta, but I’m in Germany already… One day again… 😉

I know my website contribution will not make a big impact, but maybe it will come in handy for a few extra miles on your rig over the next few months.

It is rather embarrassing that people wouldn’t even pay for the food they are getting cooked for them!! Sad, really! Why not have them buy all the ingredients beforehand and then donate for the service only… Maybe that will bring a more honest amount for your good work!

All the best for your travels and other ventures!! Many greetings from Hamburg!!

    Cheers,
    HG
