“My  Personal Daily Therapy, published Weekly or so…”

“We find greatest joy, not in getting, but in expressing what we are… Men/Women do not really live for honors or for pay; their gladness is not the taking and holding, but in doing, the striving, the building, the living. It is a higher joy to teach than to be taught. It is good to get justice, but better to do it; fun to have things but more to make them. The happy man/woman is he/she who lives the life of Love, not for the honors it may bring, but for the life itself.”

Without wanting to sound ungrateful or for that matter proclaim that Nature’s Space is ours, the vibes have changed. Here. The first thought that came to mind, "the natives are restless". The gravel road making it’s way up to the Lake has been wearing the deeper washboard signed by the fast vehicles, all within these past couple of days. We almost have been trampled over by trucks swerving at the last second in curves while driving the fast speed in our more convenient lane. What is the hurry? The rush to arrive or for most to get here and quickly make a U Turn while only lowering a window, enough for the camera to snap the photo for the neighbors when back home witnessing "we were there".

We need to go "deeper" as I call it for lack of better word. The trails are everywhere,  right and left like veins from the arteries, the ones we can ride. They are inviting, yet, without reverse and too often no sight of what is ahead, they are wearing this huge banner of "caution". We have ridden some, a few, we have hiked more while unseen around a curve trying to get a sight and a thought "doable or not". And if not… were will we turn around and how? 6 point turns, sometimes more, all depending on the slopes, the banks, the rocky or worse sandy terrain needing some serious pushing.

This too soon will change when a "clone" of "Old Faithful" we will call "Terra Explorer"will be ready by mid month or so. A back roads vehicle, a "hack" as they call it. A slower pace but a more aggressive one handling a reverse and a 2 wheel drive when needed. Minimal camping gear, off we will go where we have not been before. The kindness of Sponsorships. The desire to share those lost empty spaces for days at the time where the mind and the soul can together progress into reachable moments in total isolation.

Another day spend, a run to town and one more dinner, a treat with my Friends Sandy, Terry and Jack. Seeing them again such a short time passed Overland Expo is not a surprise but a planned route for them as again for one month they took on the road. 2 motorcycles and a 10 year old. Two years in a row we will be spending the Fourth of July together. So many will consider a month a long time, not Adventure Trio, as I feel and understand them. The more one tastes the road, the adventure, the more thirsty of it one becomes leaving it all behind. They are mixing it up with the Urban and Nature’s 5 Star Hiltons. Their longer days will also come. Demonstrating in their fashion their ability to do as such with a 10 year is proof of it all.

Late into the night now awaiting for the full moon to take birth over the crest through the pine trees the Lake is glistening with an unparalleled beauty and power of being. We have a few more days here before moving on. I feel as summer has just only started. More cooler spaces are awaiting.

Suddenly the stage turned around violently. Mother Nature threw in unexpected her pyrotechnics as herself right on cue for the Fourth of July. The Mountain ahead of us, only 9 miles, erupted in flames and smoke with intermittent explosions. My guts tightened up. The winds however were in our favor while packing up I must say in a bit of a hurry as a test as how fast could I be ready for Plan B. Rolling the tent while glancing away witnessing the outbursts from the beetle infested trees standing up till then with their empty trunks awaiting their faith with their short fuse.

Down to Dubois for a real small and friendly Town Parade. The mood changed. It was cause for celebration toward this beautiful Country we live in. This one that has supported our wanderlust with an unparalleled freedom. A few photos. Much chatting with the locals lined up for this once a year procession keeping the Town together, the day so special that keeps all the towns together from East to West and South to North. Every single one of them.

Back to Lander now for a few days with our Friends. Cooking a meal, a hot shower, eating Ice Cream… Luxury. Even watching a Movie. Catching up on my e mails and thinking which route we will now take after much inspecting the fire map of the regions ahead. "They" said a hot and dry summer. It is. I yet have to know what is ahead of us. Does it really matter? We might know today…. Time to move on.

Enjoyed the parade photos! It looked like a fun time! (Loved the big rabbit!) Sometimes Mother Nature does feel the need to present her powers! It is a shame when it destroys people/animals. Glad you and Spirit were able to get away from her “fireworks”. Looking forward to seeing the new “TE”. Glad you were able to spend time with the Adventure Trio – time with good friends is always quality time well spent! Stay safe as you continue your journey! Hugs to Spirit!!

Love all your snippets of true Americana! Sorry you lost the serenity and space but others needed some of what you had found. It’s a shame they had to come in so loudly! Curious about TE! A sure change of logistics but glad you will be able to go “deeper”!
