“We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.” ~ Albert Einstein ~
We left Tucson late, much later than intended. Wiser would have been as the Sun was glaring and heating it all at it’s peak to wait for the next morning, but wise I am not all the time as higher elevations were quickly awaiting for us and the thrill identical as the one 5 years ago if not more powerful was almost giving me the shakes. Of course we paid the price, the City’s tarmac was glistening as all projecting a mirage of a convectionned baked populace, not far off from my realistic imagination.
Same road it was northbound, the blue shiny highways were, the skies were this time again repainted as this Sunset, one of the most eloquent one I have felt preceded by a rainbow after a nice shower cooling us of. I was thinking while jubilant and my heart racing toward this stage I always call “Freedom”, what a great Gift of a start it is. Another "it" moment it was, as such had been absent for too long. Never give up I also thought, always when least expected.
Colorado bound to escape the heat, such masterpiece however triggered another destination, one never yet reached these past recent times, Muley Point. The Point of the Point. Away from it all with a choice of which boulder I will sit behind, here we are. No one is here, a few cars were parked at the first lookout but few will adventure themselves this far. It is late in the day as I await another Sunset and at this elevation it is almost cool in the shade. Will it be cold tonight? I have high hopes as the winds passing through the trees bringing on much needed freshness are in burst doing their best spending wisely their present energy.
It is quiet otherwise, it is more than that. I can scream, I can laugh, I can cry and only Spirit will hear me, will see me and feel me as I myself clutch into these extraordinary moments. Much needed. I can think now, or not. I left Tucson with much sadness, a weight unlike felt from so long ago. I thank my Friend Mark for his generous hospitality, yet I had never been exposed as such to television and it’s News. Of course I did not have to listen or watch but I wanted to know, curious, the colors of the path being painted on the other side. I really don’t have words for it, just a frightened expression toward it all. I am not politically inclined, I think more on the lines of Human Relationships, Spirituality mainly to daily better ourselves, and I could only wonder if what I was witnessing was from this Earth or another planet in nearing stages of disappearance. And then it was the thought of everyone watching daily, what are "they" becoming? Is all this part of a greater plan as suddenly myself so quickly needed to come up for air vacuumed away so promptly, so daily, so constantly on "repeat" and more "repeat".
Oh! Mother Nature, I hear you have not been spared either. Oil spills in Nigeria, Glaciers rapidly melting, so much more. I think I only wanted to run away from it all, here at Muley Point where the resemblances of such Life is still for now absent. We just walked to the point a bit ago and as while in Toroweap, sleeping will be hard as the pull here is so strong, so powerful, such depth, vastness to the horizon unequaled. There are no clouds today, the experience remains still as such, better yet, there are no mosquitoes.
Nighttime has come, I have been slowly dropping into this stage of serenity where the breathing is easy as thoughts escape as fast as they have come in. There are no barriers here, it is only Nature, Spirit and myself. My Buddy Spirit, the Dog with the Golden Heart, so kind, gentle, patient, intelligent, loving always and so stubborn as I know I am. He watches me in these times when alone together, he watches me when not alone as his eyes never stray from where I am. So lucky I am. The show will go on all night while we sleep, the Moon two thirds full is on it’s course, we will be up for the Sunrise chapter, it is that time to crawl into the sleeping bag, Spirit will keep me warm as the coolness of the night has descended upon us.
"I have had a great deal of interest in my photography over the years, for which I am grateful. Their sales are of much importance funding this Journal. Yes, please feel free to purchase one or two… or a few. I have been adding some photos lately, there will be more as I sift through about 100,000 of them.
Take a look. “Smugmug” stands for quality. Thank you”
Be well, always.
