“Love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction”
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery ~
I have had the greatest day today, also yesterday and will tomorrow. I hope Spirit has shared the same feelings, unless as me, he has not enjoyed some of the laziest days we have had. The thermometer never reached 32, 0 was our morning welcome number, with a hot cup of coffee, this evening just a bit past Sunset is already 13! A trace of snow, indoor it is, outdoor is layers and layers of clothing and hats and quick. Warming trend tomorrow, maybe even ride to the mailbox a couple miles away, who knows. Does not truly matter.
I started reading a Book a few days ago, thanks to Robin and her infinite wisdom serving me throughout my present Life aspects of it that have blossomed these past years, and yet sometimes unfocused, a bit foggy, not quite as sharp as they should be, a learning curve always, unable to myself sometimes achieve the clarity of thoughts brewing in my mind.
I cannot say enough about this Book for all of those that have a Dog as a Buddy, as I have. Vice versa it also is. I have been reading some of the comments toward it, and the one that striked me the most was “It should be a Law for all Dog owners to read this Book”. As much as I do not myself consider being a “Dog owner” as I do not believe in such ownership, I like it’s message, I cannot emphasize enough it’s reading. It is beyond the relationship with your Dog, it is also about Human relationships, after all… don’t also Dogs have feelings, Love, forgiveness? and shouldn’t they be treated as such? I personally think so.
The Book is “ Bones would rain from the sky” by Suzanne Clothier. How can I summarize her chapters? I cannot. Not a possible task within this entry, it has to be read and read again, but I can write my deep feelings about it, not only within my relationship with Spirit but my own outward and with myself inside and out. A beautiful aspect in her words has touched me so deeply, it is the understanding of the core of our bond, our association, our incredible cognizance, a condition and direction Spirit and I have had never really truly knowing if others also “get it”.
She talks about “Dances with Dogs” and a fashion of her relationship I thought no one would be able to describe as she does. It is not about doing all the wrongs, it is not about the punishments, the mechanical path of “do this and I will do that”, generally a treat, it is not about yanking on the leash, as the relationship encompasses a Lifetime and it is is much of a personal one. Those are the old beliefs as needing to open ourselves to believe in the Dance ourselves needing to learn new ways of thinking and behaving while again ourselves at the same time we sort through, question and discard such old beliefs that once shaped our thinking and choices with such a limited expression because so many have looked at a Dog as… just a Dog.
It is about finding out, discovering in which ways our Dogs are motivated to act as you would like them to act, finding out through the natural paths, beyond the mechanical and motivational levels, how you make your Dog do “what he wants to do” what you want him to do. The highest level one can have through their eyes, those eyes which always so much express what they feel. Such content is what striked me, they had been my own thoughts these past years while Spirit and I together day in and day out. What a joy it has been to be reading what I myself could not put into words as yet all has been there within this Journey. I hope you read it… even if you do not share your Life with a Buddy as I do as it’s content has also much meaning toward the circle of emotions with the Humans surrounding us.
Till it warms up a bit more… this is it!
